Throughput Press Launches New Biz

We have been busy... working night and day... in multiple locations... all for our clients. A month or so ago, Thayer remarks, out of the blue, with what I thought might just be a rhetorical question: "Which is better, contacting the masses in the hope of finding an outlet for our clients' expertise, or making six or seven personal and informed contacts and landing three gigs?"

Yea. I trust you already know my answer.

Stay tuned...

Time is Short

Eliminate Brain Drain

Fight Brain Drain
Purple Curve Workshop
March 30th :: Canton, Ohio

At Throughput Press, if Einstein is correct, time is flat out flying! The stuff in the works would blow your mind. What if lay-offs in America were a thing of the past? But I digress...

I am running an ad (paying, to run that ad!) in the Canton Repository to give away free tickets to an event that could eliminate "Brain Drain." No one from the press has bothered to call in response to my News Releases. No emails. Nothing.

If I waited on others for my successes, I probably would not have any!

My book, Purple Curve Effect, will come to life in the form a great "hands on" workshop on Friday, March 30th, at the Kent Stark campus Professional Education and Conference Center. This world class facility is a huge reason I selected Canton to roll this workshop out the public. But I digress.

Who should try to acquire one of the free tickets?
  • The entrepreneur seeking market share
  • The business owner seeking breakthroughs in ROI
  • The Sales Manager needing more results QUICKLY
  • The under-employed seeking better wages
  • The talented but unemployed
  • The dreamer looking to make a difference in the world
  • That job candidate faced with leaving the Tuscarawas valley
If you need to accomplish something (not just anything, but something of value or worthy of your efforts), you need to be at this event.

Enough said?

P.S. Seating is limited. There will be NO tickets available at the door.

Sales 101

We're at it... Again:

"Sales 101 :: The 411 on Selling"

Our client Dr Lisa Lang is a master at maximizing profits. I consider one of my gifts, the ability to connect. As explored in "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell.

At Throughput Press, we are excited to share Dr Lisa with the world. But more than that, we are excited for the results that she is amassing in the wake of her full time commitment to her own business: The Science of Business. Headquartered in Denver.

Our friendship dates back some six years. Over the last two years, during her years as the Global Marketing Director of Goldratt Consulting, we worked on some great campaigns for Eli Goldratt's Viable Vision Offer events. However, regardless her strengths at marketing, Dr Lisa is a true genius at throughput. As I have said before (and it bears repeating!), Lisa knows how to make "cash flow."

Some months ago, I reserved a domain name for just such a project:

www.Sales101.info

The time is now right to spring the concept. As I recall, after a venture capital meeting of one sort or another, I realized that all these great startups were missing a major component: a focus on sales. As in, "No Sales = No Business."

Well, I can fix that oversight. My book is the perfect primer to prepare the key personnel in most any startup for the rigors of launching a new business. Then, I am going to connect them to Dr Lisa for the shortest path to untold riches. Did I mention that she is willing to bet most of her fees on the results?

Jeff 'SKI' Kinsey, Publisher

(330) 432-3533

P.S. There just so happens, one of Dr Lisa's Mafia Offer Boot Camps is scheduled in Denver next month. April 16, 17 and 18th to be exact. Call me today, to reserve your seats. Yes, as in more than one seat. The key members of your team need to participate in her workshop. In order to make it "your" workshop. The breakthrough you need is simple: pick up the phone.

P.P.S. I am happy to share a large number of Dr Lisa's references with those serious about success. Once you have made a decision to, as Jon Spoelstra says, to commit "to do what it takes" to succeed, call me. Allow me to connect you to your new best friend.

Riding the American Dream

Dan Hanlon, Author and Entrepreneur
Joins Boyd Speakers Bureau

www.BoydSpeakers.info

As a publisher, my career has been a lot of fun... and I only see more excitement on the horizon. Every once and again, you run across a book that you wish you could have published.

Riding the American Dream is one such book.

I have posted in several spots, over the last two years, of my love for this business text by my friend, Dan Hanlon. Yes, business book. Maybe he could be convinced to grant me the rights to the paperback version? But I digress...

If one were to think in terms of results, how would the publishing world look? That is my job. Going back to November 2000 when I created an international business magazine. That was my job back in 2001 when I met with Tony Rizzo to create an eVersion of the magazine. Stuff happens. Dreams can fade. Mine rarely die. From time to time, the resources align with one or more dream, and: Kismet! Box cars (when two dice each land showing six dots).

Dreams do come true.

In Purple Curve Effect, I explained "thinking out loud." Part of my nature, where, as I think stuff up, I share it with others, and ideas take shape. Like my desire to pay tribute to John Boyd for his OODA Loop, and draw attention to a few colleagues that have harnessed some of that power to make their engagements just that much more profound.

The first two world renowned speakers that have stepped up to the plate, and agreed to allow Throughput Press to present their speaking skills to the world, are Dr. Lisa Lang and Dan Hanlon. There is at least one more in the wings.

Long story short, I trust Lisa and Dan with my clients. The first test. Second, have they put their own money on the line, proving their ability to produce results, where it counts the most? Third, have they worked on projects measured in millions of dollars at risk? Finally, do they know who John Boyd was, and have they used his principles in the application of Boyd's OODA Loop to solve real business challenges?

If you need an accomplished master of results, then you need Lisa or Dan as your next keynote speaker. Once you hear one or the other (or, amazingly, both of them!) you will understand my excitement. In fact, whenever our Purple Curve Events division starts the creative phase of any new event, we ask how we may use one (or both) of these gurus. They are not inexpensive. So if you are not sure, don't bother.

However, if time is short, or important, or constrained, and results must be delivered "or else" -- call me.

LinkedIn dot com

A: Seventy

Q: How many connections do you have on linkedIn?

Today's podcast touches on LinkedIn, the "people to people" connectivity tool. A subject which Guy opined on earlier this month.

I recently added a tool to my SKI Consulting dot biz site to recap great podcasts that I have captured over the last year or so... see the "Podcasts of Value" link. Today's podcast was very good as well, so it is available both via iTunes and the SKI biz site. Along with a couple from Guy's book, The Art of The Start.

FYI: Guy has a 164 connections at this moment. Once you reach 500 connections, which I am surprised to learn, a lot of people have accomplished, LinkedIn simply reports the person at 500+ connections.

I have used it to research prospects and to even get a better understanding of the background of some clients. Part of that Mackay 66 approach... your mileage may vary.

Startup Biz

Business Startups are like a great game of Chess

I have started several businesses. Bought an on-going business. Tried (and failed) to buy yet another. Had a partner. Learned to never do that again. Worked with Angel investors. Received some funding. Missed out on a lot of other funding.

Yet, there are few experiences as exciting and fulfilling as starting a business "from scratch."

I tell some details on a number of these adventures in my book, Purple Curve Effect. But as I sit here this afternoon, I wonder if it has been made clear, the value of attending this week's workshop at Kent State Stark Campus in Canton, Ohio.

Sure, the manager in most any size firm that wants to be a leader will benefit tremendously from the presentation. Both my "hands on" workshop, but also Ron McDaniel's keynote on creating buzz.

However, the biggest bang for the $99 price of admission, is for the small business owner or "wanna be" business owner. For the guy or gal that has a lot more enthusiasm than cash. For the dreamer with an idea on how to make the world a better place.

There is still time to join us, March 30th, 7:45am to 12noon:

Make a List

#2 Make a List

#2 Make a List

If I believe in what I wrote, then I would use the material in my book to produce the workshop. I do, and I am.

One of the Purple Curve Effect strategies is that of making a list. Actually, lots of lists. Like this one on F/A/B (Features, Advantages and Benefits). One of the oldest tricks from Sales 101.

I like to think in terms of Use Cases (see earlier posts) to define the marketplace. I look at the end results, people in the conference center, and think about each of the attendees. Let's take a look at one of them, Suzie. Yes, the HR Director. Why is she so pleased with the event? Let us (make a) list of some of the reasons:
  1. She works in Fairlawn, so the drive down I-77 to Exit #111 was not too bad
  2. Most of the traffic was actually headed North, and she was driving South
  3. She heard the podcast about the "two-for" pricing, and convinced the Plant Manager to join her for the session, and he remarked how pleasantly surprised he was and that he had immediate plans to put the Purple Curve Effect to work before the day was over
  4. Suzie was going to get back to the office and still have time to address all the pressing issues that were sure to be overflowing onto her desk from her in-basket
  5. A colleague from an oft used supplier in Las Vegas attended, and during the breaks, they talked how much impact the event was having, and how they would be applying several of the techniques to facilitate interactions with one another
  6. The P&Q Example finally made sense
  7. For the first time in many years, Suzie was looking forward to getting back to the office in order to quickly apply her new found (yet common sense) tools
Obviously, Suzie could not attend if she never heard about the event. Did we make every effort to use every medium possible? Did she hear about the event on craigslist? Maybe she ran across the News Release. Or one of her favorite bloggers mentioned the event.

Once she did hear about it, there would have been a lot of objections to actually taking the time away from the office to attend. Fortunely, she was smart enough to know that every reason for not going, was a probably just as good a reason to go! Doing the same thing, over and over, and expecting different results is just downright crazy!

But if her company would not cover the expense, why should she?

Well, what if this SKI guy really could help? Not having any "extra" money is a great excuse. Until you ask yourself, "when will I have enough extra to spend a lousy ninety-nine bucks on something that promises to return many times my investment?" If you don't change direction, you must end up exactly where you are headed. Could this workshop be the "real deal?"

Who was this guy, this Jeff 'SKI' Kinsey, and why must he insist on using his nickname? Is he Polish? Maybe a little research was in order. Google to the rescue! We know Suzie attended, so she must have found the proof she needed, if she in fact did a search.

Well, Suzie mentioned briefly during the introduction, that she had googled "Jeff SKI Kinsey" (the quotes around the name are important) and the results were over 500 hits. Her own name produced only 54 hits. Of course, a search without the nickname produced over 18,000 hits! Maybe there was method to the madness!
----

This is just one of the exercises that I use to produce results. One can refine the process as much as needed, or simply use it to quantify "magnitude." Like asking about dollar amounts in "tens, hundreds, thousand, and so forth." For example, if I know a book sells for $19.95 a copy, one might ask the author if sales are in the two thousand or twenty-thousand or two-hundred thousand dollar range.

However, best of all, I love it when someone actually picks up the phone and calls me and actually asks if they should attend. Zig Ziglar said it best, "Well, ask yourself if this expenditure of time and money will take you closer to your goals, or further away?"

Common Sense.

I look forward to seeing you January 19, 2007.

Extraordinary

We could not have said it better...

"First let me thank you for your extraordinary book, The Purple Curve. I bought it through Goldratt Marketing Group with other four books (Wrap Speed Manufacturing, Management Dilemmas, Synchronous Management, and Deming & Goldratt). Well, I must be honest with myself. It is a remarkable book. In only two days of reading, my perspectives have change dramatically. All of the four other books are also excellent, but yours has made the most impact on me." —MB

This book becomes a Workshop, Friday, January 19, 2007 in Canton, Ohio.

Just one of the services that sets Throughput Press on a unique pedestal.

Already published your book, but not getting the traction in the marketplace that you believe your efforts deserve? Call us. Let us put together a plan to meet your expectations. From podcasts to video blogs to full-blown national workshops and most everything in between!

Open Press

The Open Press carried our First Release

Living in the Moment by Dr. Roger Rhoades
Strips Deep Rooted Beliefs Bare and Casts Them in New Light

Greer, SC (OPENPRESS) January 3, 2007 -- Dr. Roger A. Rhoades, who has gained a national following through his appearances on television talk shows, has published "Living in the Moment", a little book about big pivotal moments. The new pocket-size book, available online through his cyber office at www.greatstuff.com, is a collection of short commentaries that detail more than fifty of Dr. Rhoades’ personal breakthroughs. He begins each commentary with a well known quotation that touches on a core belief and then describes a situation that triggered his own flash of insight on the subject. Each commentary ends with a "twist" in the form of a quote of Dr. Rhoades’ own that conveys his new understanding.

Dr. Rhoades stated, “We all have ‘Ah Ha’ moments in our lives when the light dawns and we suddenly see things in a new way. "Living in the Moment" chronicles breakthrough moments that have occurred throughout my life. I hope readers will find them eye-opening, too.”

In addition to his guest appearances on television shows including Oprah, The View, and Montel, Dr. Rhoades is a frequent contributor to popular magazines on such subjects as dating, breakup recovery, and infidelity. He has a Master's Degree in Religious Education with an emphasis on Marriage and Family from New Orleans Baptist Seminary, and a Doctorate Degree in Ministry with an emphasis in Pastoral Counseling from the Graduate Theological Foundation.

Target Market

From our Podcast Artwork...

We are pleased to announce our Podcasts (mp3) of topics concerning publishing, and our unique approach to it at Throughput Press. On record, is the "Welcome" message, and now a short message on this subject concerning our Target Market.

A little history on Throughput.

To make the case in print, we seek to cater to the author that truly seeks to make the world a better place. Primarily driven by business and business methodologies, like those covered in my book, Purple Curve Effect, but also for authors with a message of encouragement, like our latest release, Living in the Moment by Dr. Roger Rhoades.

Both may be found on our "books in print" page on our web site.

Does that suggest that we will turning would-be authors away? Sure enough.

We are not a vanity press. Or a POD (print on demand) publisher. Although we do partner with some PODs on various projects. We also utilize the services of a lot of subcontractors, serving as the author's personal "general contractor" for all things publishing. We are, as our slogan suggests:

"Finallya publisher just for authors seeking to change the world."

Books, PDFs, eBooks and Podcasts to name a few of the media awaiting your content. Another major component is our events division, Purple Curve Events. Named in honor of my book. First event to be held later this month in Canton, Ohio.

The best advice, is to pick up the phone and call me. Let's discuss your idea... or ideas. Together, lets build a game plan to meet your mission statement. Put a little bit of your money into the pot with our money, talent, and resources, and lets make it happen.
